Women’s Rowing

Welcome to Rob Roy Women’s squad

The Rob Roy Women are a warm and welcoming squad able to offer members the opportunity to scull, row and cox on the Cam as well as at our boat yard at Stretham, a glorious stretch of water on the way to Ely.

We organize crew training that responds to the needs of our members. Due to our large fleet of single sculls, we also offer competent single scullers the opportunity to scull independently. This means there is a platform for performance rowing at Robs

The squad recognizes that different members will be able to dedicate different amounts of time to their own training throughout the year. Having a range of boats and varied training opportunities allows for members to commit to a level of training that suits them.

Our current members, of all ages, range from experienced scullers to novice scullers with sweep oar experience. We aim to achieve excellence in small boats. We are the course record holder for the Ouse Half Marathon 4+ IM3. Also our Masters A 4x- came second in the recent Veterans Four Head. We do also like to get the bigger boats out, with the Robs Women enteringWEHoRR in recent years.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the membership secretary who will be happy to discuss any options for rowing with our club.

If you are an adult looking to learn to scull (two oars per person) from scratch, we suggest you sign up for our Summer School (see the Summer School page of our website where details of the forthcoming course will appear when we are ready to open bookings). Although the Summer School is advertised as primarily for juniors, we run one session each day specifically for adults.

If you are an adult looking to lean to row (one oar per person) in an Eight, from scratch, we suggest you contact Omar Terywall, of Cambridge Rowing Experience (info@cambridgerowing.com), who specialises in this.
