2024 Summer Sculling School
Our 2024 Summer School has now closed.
Details of our 2025 Summer School will be posted here after Easter 2025.
“Each person will have one hour’s session each day for five days, coached by the Rob Roy Boat Club coaching team and members of our junior squad. The coaching ratio of 1 coach to 2 athletes ensures very close supervision and excellent learning opportunities.”
Jo BurchWhat you’ll Learn
By the end of the week, you’ll have learned:
- the basis of good sculling technique and boatmanship
- you will know about the boats and equipment we use and how to use them safely;
- you will learn the rules of the river; you will know how to recover from a capsize (it happens!)
- you will have an understanding of what it means to be a rower.
Most importantly, we hope you will have had fun and have fallen in love with the sport we are all passionate about.
Places are limited in order to keep coaching ratios low and will be run on a first come, first served basis so please book early.
Payment must be received with your booking form. When your booking is confirmed, we’ll email you the course details.
If you have any questions, please contact Jo Burch, Rob Roy BC Director of Junior Rowing, at juniors@robroyboatclub.org.uk
If you are an adult looking to lean to row (one oar per person) in an Eight, from scratch, we suggest you contact Omar Terywall, of Cambridge Rowing Experience (info@cambridgerowing.com), who specialises in this.
