Men's Rowing

Rob Roy Boat Club Men’s Squad

While Rob Roy has a successful track record in national representation, at the National Championships, Masters’ Championships, the VIIIs Head and HRR, the Men’s Squad is largely a group of experienced and competent scullers of all ages who train hard but need to fit their training round busy work and family schedules and so cannot always commit to crew rowing.

We have a fleet of good quality singles and doubles for use by members who don’t have their own; and we have an off-Cam base outside Ely from where competent independent scullers can achieve high quality long-distance training on the water also used by the Cambridge Boat Race crews and the GB Start programme.

We are building an U23 men’s squad which trains regularly together but also includes provision for competent scullers (including former members of our Junior Squad) who may be away at university or working elsewhere, who want to continue their training in the holidays or at weekends or want to get together for races with other Rob Roy members.

If this sounds like the sort of Club to meet your needs, contact Michael Knapp, our Chairman at chairman@robroyboatclub.net

If you are an adult looking to learn to scull (two oars per person) from scratch, we suggest you sign up for our Summer School (see the Summer School page of our website where details of the forthcoming course will appear when we are ready to open bookings). Although the Summer School is advertised as primarily for juniors, we run one session each day specifically for adults.

If you are an adult looking to lean to row (one oar per person) in an Eight, from scratch, we suggest you contact Omar Terywall, of Cambridge Rowing Experience (info@cambridgerowing.com), who specialises in this.
