Race Report

Good conditions very similar to 2008 saw one Robs boat take to the water from Putney trying to defend starting position 45. The Robs WS3 8 was coxed by Fiona Knights and the crew consisted of Sam Bennet (stroke), Katherine Webster, Angie Mcconnel, Lindsay Hamilton, Anna-Rosa Gejlsbjerg, Bronwen Richards, Tanja van Riesen and Sally Dowding.

Although the chasing elite crew from Bessel-RC eV Minden quickly caught up with Robs from the start, Robs put in a strong performance in a side by side race and manage to hold them off with hard rowing and a perfectly coxed line. In the last bit of the race Robs dug really deep and pulled out some grrrrr.... rowing seeing the overall position change from Hammersmith catching up 18 positions on the last bit of the race including the 99's A S2 boat which was ahead by 0.27 seconds by Hammersmith but was beaten by the finishing line with 0.48 seconds. The final time was 21:03.02 (position 87) and the Robs boat came in as the third highest ranking Cambridge crew after the City A S2 boat and the composite Cambridge Vet C boat.
