Top club news has to be our fabulous club entry at Henley Royal Regatta this year.
Rob Stark, Ben Hicks, Chris Covey and Dan Clift faced stiff opposition from 32 crews racing 4- for the Wyfold Challenge Cup.
On Wednesday, the Robs crew won by four lengths against Henley’s B boat.
Thursday’s race brought another convincing win for the Robs crew by 4 1/4 lengths against Cork Boat Club, Ireland.
The field was reduced to eight crews for Friday’s racing. Rob Roy raced the eventual winners of the cup, losing by 2/3 length despite cutting 10 seconds off the previous day’s time. Nottingham Rowing Club’s A boat took the cup on Sunday, with a winning time just one second faster than their Friday race time against Rob Roy. Super racing from our club’s crew. Next year guys 🙂
Also racing at Henley Royal Regatta was a composite GB Start Isle of Ely/ Bath University M4x competing for The Prince of Wales Challenge Cup.
With 16 crews participating on Thursday, the Ely/Bath composite crew of Ben Jackson, Leo Lundgren, Frazer Christie and Will King beat Runcorn Rowing Club by 2 1/2 lengths.
The Ely/Bath composite lost to a German crew during Friday’s racing.
